The French carmaker is all set to make its official entry in the country today with the launch of its first product, better known as the C5 Aircross. The SUV will primarily go up against the likes of the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan facelift, Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson in the segment. Bookings for the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV are already open for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The launch of the said model will also mark the return of Groupe PSA to the Indian market.

The SUV will be launched in two variants namely Feel and Shine and customers will get four colour options to choose from out of which three will be dual-tone shades. The SUV will get a single 2.0-litre diesel engine option that is good for producing 175 hp of power along with 400Nm of torque. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic unit.

Set to face competition from cars such as the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen T-Roc, etc., C5 Aircross will be available across two trim options, namely, Feel and Shine. From what we know so far, Citroën has equipped its upcoming SUV in India with pretty much all the features one would expect from a car in this segment and will offer them as standard across both trims.

The Citroen C5 Aircross certainly looks a premium-looking SUV. The vehicle gets a crossover-like stance along with bits like dual-beam LED headlamps with LED DRLs. Moreover, you get a twin-slat split front grille and 18-inch alloy wheels. The entire lighting system is LED which means you get LED fog lamps, and split LED tail lamps as well.

Citroen has devised flexible seating for the C5 Aircross – each of the three heavily-bolstered rear seats can slide fore and aft and be folded down individually as per the user’s requirement to create more room for luggage.

Powering the Citroen C5 Aircross is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that makes 177 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Citroen claims the C5 Aircross’ ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.6 kpl is the best in its segment. Paired with it is an eight-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Also available are drive modes and a Grip Control system, to help the C5 traverse rough terrain.

Citroen C5 Aircross prices in India are expected to be in the range of Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will be sold from Citroen’s ‘La Maison’ dealerships, with 10 such outlets to be opened initially, as well as online, via its Citroen Direct model, which will see customers receive delivery of their vehicle straight from the factory.
